These are a few of my favourite things, for when I am feeling bad.
- Coppeneur fruit truffles from Hotel Chocolat.
- Reading books with my two daughters. The best books to read aloud are anything by Roald Dahl and Northern Lights by Philip Pullman.
- Going on trips with the family.
- Making lists like this one.
- Watching films with my wife. My favourite film at the moment is I’ve loved you so long.
- Eating local food.
- Travelling in Europe by train, especially overnight sleepers.
- Baking German Christmas biscuits at my Mum and Dad’s house.
- Watching my children on the stage and at athletics competitions.
- Walking with the dog.
- Silence.
- Bach, especially played on Baroque instruments and especially if played by Rachel Podger.
- My Mum’s Stollen.
- Candles and log fires (at home in winter or on campsites).
